What is Difference Between Linear and Switching Power Supply?

The adjustable switching power supply can convert the input AC power supply into DC power supply and then convert it into high frequency AC power supply through rectifier filter, thus providing transformer with voltage conversion, producing one or more sets of voltage required. The reason for converting to high frequency AC is that the efficiency of the converter circuit of high frequency AC voltage is much higher than that in low frequency circuit. Therefore, the volume of adjustable switch power supply is small, the cost is very low. At the same time, the heating value is smaller and the loss is less during the operation.


The working principle of the adjustable switching power supply is to change the input AC power supply into DC power supply through the rectifier filter. Through the high frequency PWM signal control switch, DC power supply is added to the primary pole of the switch transformer. The secondary pole of switching transformer inducts the high frequency voltage, which is provided to the load through rectifier filter, and the output voltage is fed back to the adjustable control circuit, and then the duty cycle of PWM is changed to realize the voltage output change.
