When we talk about power supply equipment, solar photovoltaic system, there is a device that can not be ignored, that is, the charging power supply, if there is a problem with the charging power supply, then the battery can not be supplied with enough power for its normal operation, let us understand the charging power supply and charging Methods.

Charger Power

The high current power supply is a rectifying device for charging the battery. In the early days, an AC motor-DC power supply was used as the charging power source. After the 1960s, it was replaced by a charging power source composed of power electronics. The charging power source usually adopts a single-phase or three-phase half-controlled rectifier circuit or a rectifier circuit that does not control the rectifier circuit and is connected to the AC voltage regulator. In the DC circuit, a smoothing reactor is required to suppress DC current ripple to prevent current interruption.

Charging Method

There are usually three types of battery charging methods:

Constant voltage charging method

The charging voltage is constant, the charging current decreases as the battery voltage rises, and the charging ends when the charging current is zero.

Constant current charging mode

The current is kept constant during the charging process. In practical applications, the phased constant current charging method is often used. Because of the late charging, if the charging current still maintains the current value at the beginning of charging, a large amount of bubbles and acid mist will be excited, and the battery temperature rises. The battery plate is damaged and the capacity is reduced. The charging current should be appropriately reduced in the later stage of charging.

Constant voltage and constant current charging method

It has two characteristics of constant voltage charging and current charging. At the beginning of charging, it is charged by constant current. When the voltage reaches the bubble generation, it is charged by constant voltage. The constant power supply usually adopts a single-phase or three-phase half-controlled rectifier circuit or a rectifier circuit that does not control the rectifier circuit and is connected to the AC voltage regulator. In the DC circuit, a smoothing reactor is used to suppress DC current ripple to prevent current interruption.

There are corresponding detection circuits and automatic control or manual adjustment circuits according to different charging methods. It is used to fix the electronic power supply for battery float charging. This is generally done by constant voltage constant current charging.

In addition to the above conventional charging methods, there are two charging methods:

Determine the gas rate charging method

At the beginning of the charging process, charging with a large current, when the gas outlet rate of the battery reaches a certain constant value, the gas detecting component sends a control signal to timely reduce the charging current of the battery, thereby stabilizing the gas output rate at a lower value.

Constant temperature charging method

During the charging process, the battery temperature will rise. When the temperature reaches a certain value, it will be detected by a thermostat or a thermosensitive element, and a control signal will be issued in time to reduce the charging current and keep the temperature of the battery at a predetermined value.
